Amira
What Is Amira?
Amira plays many roles in the K-3 classrooms of SCCPSS. It is the district's HB307 compliant Universal Reading and Dyslexia Screener and also a classroom instructional tool. She is the world’s first AI reading assistant. When students read aloud to Amira, she provides feedback and support adapting in real-time to a student’s ability, intervening as necessary.
How to Access Amira
Families can view and students can work with Amira from home via ClassLink. Simply click on the Ed app in ClassLink.

Using Amira at Home
If your child does use Amira at home either as a homework assignment or by choice, here are some tips for use:
-
Have your child use Amira in a quiet space so that he/she is not distracted, and Amira does not pick up other sounds
-
Do not help your child read to Amira. Amira needs to know your child’s strengths and struggles so that she can provide intervention and tailor passages to the practice your child needs.
-
Make sure that your child reads the entire story so that Amira saves the data for your child’s teacher to review. And celebrate together!

NWEA MAP Growth
What is MAP?
MAP is a diagnostic assessment that measures academic growth in reading and math. Administered to students in grades K-10 at the beginning of the year, the middle of the year, and the end of the year, MAP provides a picture of where students are performing in relation to grade level and national norms. It is an adaptive assessment which means that the test adjusts the difficulty of questions based upon how a student answers each question.
