Georgia Governor’s Honors Program
The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a prestigious residential summer program tailored for high school sophomores and juniors who demonstrate exceptional skills, knowledge, and talent. GHP provides a unique educational experience that goes beyond the traditional high school classroom, offering participants academic, cultural, and social enrichment opportunities to cultivate the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
Program Overview:
- Residential Summer Program: GHP takes place during mid-summer, typically from mid-June to mid-July. It is held on a college or university campus, providing students with an immersive educational environment.
- Academic Instruction: Participants attend classes in the mornings and afternoons, engaging in intensive study in specific areas of interest or specialization.
- Holistic Enrichment: Beyond academic coursework, students participate in a diverse range of social and instructional activities every evening, fostering personal growth, collaboration, and community engagement.
- Program Logistics: Meals and accommodations are provided by the program. While there are some required costs, such as travel expenses to and from the semifinalist event and host campus, as well as basic supplies for classes and dorm rooms, the program aims to minimize financial barriers for participants.
SCCPSS Participation:
In the summer of 2025, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) proudly sent seven student finalists to the prestigious Georgia Governor’s Honors Program. These outstanding students demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, representing our district with excellence.
