Administrative placements are only processed during the annual administrative placement window. 

For special circumstances, other forms of placement may be available, including:

• Safety placements (bullying, safety, family circumstances) - Contact Student Affairs
• House Bill 224 (military) placements - Contact Student Affairs
• Senate Bill 10 (special education) placements - Contact Specialized Learning
• Choice Programs - The Choice Programs admissions process is managed by the Office of College and Career Readiness. 

The window for administrative placement will be opened annually, typically in late spring or early summer. Information will be posted to the District website regarding the dates that the window will be open. 

The administrative placement window is currently CLOSED. 

The list posted to the district website lists all schools that are available for placement as of the first day of the application opening. Each school only has a limited number of seats per grade level. 

Once applications have been submitted for each available seat, the school is automatically removed as an option on the application. For the most up-to-date list of available schools, refer to the application. 

Example:

The district website may state that Savannah-Chatham School is available for administrative placement; however, they only have 10 seats open. Once 10 applications have been submitted, the school is automatically removed from the application. 

If a school is not on the list, this means that the school’s capacity is full and is not open for administrative placement or it is a choice school that has a separate process. Schools are only available for administrative placement if the school has additional classroom space after it has enrolled the students assigned to its zone.

Yes, the administrative placement process applies only to students that are currently enrolled in SCCPSS. Students new to SCCPSS must enroll at their assigned zoned school.

Students eligible for administrative placement must be in good standing for discipline, attendance, and grades. In order to qualify for administrative placement, students must:

• Have a final passing grade in all classes
• Have no disciplinary infractions or suspensions 
• Be in good attendance standing in accordance with the SCCPSS attendance policy (no more than five unexcused absences or excessive tardies)

No, if your child has received an administrative placement, it is through the highest grade level of the school. You do not have to sign up again.

Yes, the process is fully online. There must be an application on file in order to process an administrative placement. 

In-person technical assistance will be provided at the SCCPSS Whitney Learning Complex located at 2 Laura Avenue/Savannah, GA 30404 during the following date and time Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Please note that all applications are time-stamped and acceptance is on a first-come, first-served once approved. 

If the application is approved, it is good for the duration of the child’s stay at the school chosen (ex. If the child applies at an elementary school for the 1st grade year, the child may remain at the school until the end of the 5th grade year). This is all contingent upon the student remaining in good standing for the administrative placement criteria each year.

Students must be in good standing for attendance.

No, unless the child is enrolled in a K-8 school, a new application will need to be completed per grade band (ex. elementary to middle and middle to high school).

After review, you will be notified of approval or denial by June 20, 2025 via email.
